The GIANT Company in partnership with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful®, recognized Snipes Farm and Education Center as one of the 32 recipients in Pennsylvania of the 2024 Healing the Planet grant program.
“When it comes to healing our planet, small change can make a big difference, including ensuring we have enough thriving trees throughout our communities,” said Courtney Hopcraft, manager of community relations and charitable giving, The GIANT Company. “Through the work of this year’s 32 Healing the Planet grant recipients, more than 3,000 new trees will be planted in the coming months to help absorb carbon pollution and improve the quality of the air we breathe.”
The Snipes family has resided at the present Snipes Farm since the 1800s and are the 11th generation to farm in Bucks County. The Snipes family generously offered the use of their farm for the establishment of the non-profit Snipes Farm & Education Center. The non-profit’s mission is to model and teach sustainable farming, while building the community and reconnecting people to the land, said Jonathan Snipes.
Some of he trees on the property are American Beech, Bitternut hickory, Blackgum, Hornbeam, Red maple, Swamp white oak, Sweetbay magnolia, Sweetgum and Willow oak.
A total of $108,243 in funding was awarded in support of tree planting projects across Pennsylvania, said a Giant spokesperson. Excel Events in Levittown and Newtown Square, Delaware County also two other regional recipients of a 2024 Healing the Planet grant, ,Giant officials said.
