Bristol Township Council approved declaring three residential properties blighted earlier this month.
The township’s active blight list is now down to 21 properties from an original 204 identified in 2015 when the effort was first launched.
The three properties – 848 Harrison Street, 84 Ice Pond Road, and 68 Indian Red Road were highlighted by Beau Fleming, who works in the building and planning department at the July Council meeting over a week ago.
The Harrison Street property became a focus after the township received complaints about an individual living there without utilities. Fleming said the resident had cut all electrical wires in the house, believing people were listening to him.
The residence is uninhabitable and no attempts were made by the homeowner to address the issues existing at the property, Fleming said.
The property has about $5,400 in liens and unpaid taxes for 2023 and 2024, Fleming added.
The Ice Pond Road realty fell victim to fire damage just under two years ago. Township officials contacted the owner several months ago, who said at the time she was going to address the issues at the property-which included discussions with a home contractor and engineer, about five months but nothing since materialized, Fleming said.
The home remains uninhabitable, officials said, and has no existing tax liens.
The property, officials said, at 68 Indian Red Road, has a rigged up electrical panel, using a bungee cord and shoe rack which led the fire marshals deeming the home unsafe.
“We served a search warrant with our police department and boarded up the home,” Fleming said.
The property owner is currently in jail, Fleming said, adding he has been in contact with the owner’s father regarding the hazard existing at the property.
About seven to nine properties are currently in motion in the blighted property process, of the remaining 21 on the list, township officials said.
