Coroner to Hold Unattended Veterans Service for Service Men From Bucks, Jan 26



Tbe Bucks County Coroner’s Office at the Unattended Veterans Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery later this month honoring among the service men two from the Levittown area.
Services will be held at 830 Highland Road, Newtown PA, 18940 on Thursday, January 26th at 2:00pm. The Coroner’s Offices will be interring three unclaimed veterans.
The veterans include:
- Johnnie Jay Jenkins, Coast Guard (Subsistence Specialist Petty Officer Third Class), From Bristol Township • John Steven Magyar, Army (Private First Class), from Northampton Township
- Richard McVey, Army (Private), from Middletown Township
The unattended ceremonies are a direct result of a series of reports from Bucks County Courier Times Reporters Jo Ciavaglia and James McGinnis. Their seminal “Unclaimed” series that ran in 2019.
During the ceremony, the veterans’ names will be read, and the Pennsylvania Military Honors team will present the flag on the behalf of the veterans. A rifle salute and live Taps will be provided. After the ceremony, the veterans will each be placed in their own niche in the columbarium which will be engraved with “Proudly Served.
Unattended Veterans Services were not held during November and December, officials said.
