Michael’s Restaurant in the Morrisville section of Falls Township “fired up” the ovens one last time on Saturday, September 21st, closing its doors for good.
Lower Bucks Source reported on the planned closing beginning late last year.
Michael Galasso, owner of the restaurant that’s served fine Italian food for nearly six decades, said in June, “The family extends their thanks for the honor of being part of your family’s memories for the past 56 years.”
Galasso’s father, Michael Galasso, Sr first opened the doors 56 years ago and it was named Villa Sorrento. He’s been first one to open the doors and the last one to lock them at the end of the day and now they are closed for forever.
Plans to demolish the restaurant, which sits on a roughly three-acre lot, to make way for a new storage facility business were announced late last year.
Safstor attorney Julie Von Spreckelsen said after the restaurant and a residential structure are demolished the storage facility with 28 parking spaces will be constructed.
A demolition date, as of publication time, has yet to be made public. When it does happen, 56 years of good food, live music and memories will be turned into concrete dust, but if you listen closely in the parking lot of 935 Old Lincoln Highway, you just might hear the stirring of echoes past.
