Lower Makefield Police gave a statement in response to a request for comment and information on the circumstances surrounding the Thanksgiving night police chase and subsequent arrest of 20-year-old Jaylen Wright on an array of theft, fleeing, reckless endangerment, and traffic summary charges.
The statement below has not been edited for content; it is exactly as it is, when sent to Lower Bucks Source Friday afternoon at 12:05 p.m.
Lower Makefield Police responded to a suspicious vehicle and the vehicle fled.
Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance. A police supervisor called off the pursuit and the vehicle was spotted by other jurisdictions.
Lower Makefield Police deployed spike strips. The fleeing vehicle’s tires were flattened at around the Calhoun Street Bridge, where the vehicle came into contact with an SUV occupied by seven people.
All were checked out by rescue squad. No injuries. No hospitalization. The driver of the stolen vehicle suffered head injuries and was taken to Capital Health and required stitches.
The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen and the operator of the stolen vehicle was wanted out of Philadelphia on a warrant. No other information at this time.
