Yardley Borough Officials say they need someone from the community to fill an open council seat.
Council officials are asking community members to consider applying for a two year appointment that will conclude on Dec. 31, 2021 to the borough government.
Officials detailed the the he process to be followed at Tuesday nights council meeting.
Applications can be found on the www.yardleyboro.com website, or interested parties can contact the borough office and for an application
Filing Period for Application Documents:
All application documents (Appointment Form, Candidate Resume, and any other supporting documents) must be filed by the applicant with Borough Hall to the attention of Manager Paula Johnson (firstname.lastname@example.org) or 56 South Main Street, Yardley, PA) by 1/31/2020 by 11:59 PM (ET).
Council reserves the right to extend the application deadline if needed to fill the vacancy with an eligible candidate.
In order to be eligible to hold office as a member of Yardley Borough Council, a candidate must be registered to vote within Yardley Borough at the time application documents are received by Borough Hall.
Applicants are required to complete and submit the appointment form (attached) containing personal data and a description of the applicant’s background and qualifications and other information that will assist the Council in selecting an appointee. The application must have two references. The application form must be signed and dated by the applicant. Failure to submit a complete application form and resume by the deadline will result in the candidate not being considered for the vacancy.
Each applicant will be interviewed by Council at a televised public meeting (Livestreamed to Facebook).
Applicants will be notified of their interview date and time. Due to time constraints in making this appointment, interviews cannot be rescheduled.
The interviews with either be held on the evening of 2/4 or 2/11/2020.
The Public will be allowed to ask questions during the interview. Failure to take part in the public interview process will result in the candidate not being considered for the vacancy.
