Bensalem Approves Phase Three Land Development Plan for Amazon Site
Bensalem Township Council approved the phase three land development plan for the Amazon Distribution Center on State Road at last nights meeting unanimously.
The township council voted to approve the final land development deal with Amazon for the warehouse and property located at 3750 State Road Winks Lane as the final part phase of a three phase plan.
Phase three calls for the demolition of the remaining vacant buildings and consolidate the two parking lots currently existing on the “Winks Ln” parcels and make them part of the recently opened distribution center, said a company representative.
The plan is calls for the development of parking lots and circulation areas for vans and employee parking.
- Five residential homes will be demolished at State and Winks Rd’s
- Driveways for employees and van delivery traffic will be developed upon separate paths providing for safe traffic movement throughout the facility ]
- A storm water basin will be installed and landscaping around the perimeter of the site will be completed.
Amazon has agreed to make “substantial” roadwork improvements in and around the distribution facility to address traffic flow concerns of residents living nearby. Amazon representatives said they are awaiting approvals from Penn DOT and once they come through, traffic flow improvements can commence.
The massive 235,240 square foot warehouse created 315 new jobs, with a 100 of those positions in the fulfillment center and the remaining 215 positions for delivery drivers and management, a company spokesperson told council members in September of 2020, prior to its launching this past Spring.
