Bucks GOP RTK’s Hiring of “Political Operative” by Dem County Commissioners

Submitted:

Bucks County Republicans are accusing Democratic County Commissioners of running a taxpayer funded political operation with the hiring, they say, of Eric Nagy, a former party executive director and campaign manager. Republicans are seeking information about his hiring through a Right-to Know submitted to the county Open Records Officer.

County Republicans submitted the PA Right-to-Know request to the County Open Records Officer following the hiring of Nagy, a former Democratic Party Executive Director and Campaign Manager for the Democratic County Commissioners, on Thursday GOP officials said.

“We are witnessing a blatant attempt by the Democratic County Commissioners to run a taxpayer-funded political operation out of the courthouse. The hiring of a highly partisan political operative as some type of ‘special projects coordinator’ should be deeply concerning to every taxpayer in Bucks County,” said GOP Chair Pat Poprik.

In November,  Democrats took control of the Board of Commissioners for the first time in decades  by winning two of the three seats with the reelection of incumbent County Commissioner Diane Marseglia and newly elected former Falls Township Supervisor, Bob Harvie.

Former state Rep. Gene DiGirolamo, also elected in November, is the Republican on the board.

The Right-to-Know request submitted Thursday seeks basic information on the hiring practices at the Bucks County Courthouse. We want to know who hired him, who does he report to, what are his job responsibilities, and most importantly, what is his role with the Board of Elections? Taxpayers deserves answers—Eric Nagy now works for all of us,” said Poprik

Attached is the text of the Right-to-Know request submitted to the Bucks County Office of Open Records.

The County Office of Open Records provides access to public information and enforces the state’s Right-to-Know law. Its function is to serve as a resource for citizens, public officials and members of the media in obtaining public records of Bucks County.

We look forward to receiving a prompt and informative response from the Office of Open Records said Poprik.
