Farry Holds Public Hearing on Measure to Better Coordinate First Responder Services
State Rep. Frank Farry (R-Bucks) will hold a public hearing of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee (VAEP) to hear testimony on House Bill 1819 today at 1 pm. The measure seeks to establish a Pennsylvania State Fire Commission to coordinate resources and services for fire and emergency services providers in the Commonwealth in accordance with the Senate Resolution 6 Commission report.
Scheduled to be at the hearing in addition to Farry, will be Rep. Austin Davis (D-Allegheny), prime sponsor of the legislation; Bruce Trego, state fire commissioner; Dylan Ferguson, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services; David Chiaramonteand Adam Perreault, PA Professional Firefighters Association; Charles McGarvey Sr. and Jay Delaney, PA Career Fire Chiefs Association; and Steve Bair, PA Fire and Emergency Services Institute.
The measure seeks to also abolish the State Fire Commissioner to be replaced by the creation of a State Fire Commission.
