Borough Police Issue Warrant for Trenton Man in Jefferson Ave Shooting

The Bristol Borough Police Department have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Trenton man for last weeks shooting on Jefferson Avenue. 

Hassan Bass, 19 is the man police say fired multiple shots at what police describe was a prearranged fight between two groups of men. 

Bass, police say, brandished the unidentified gun, with the group then fleeing the area firing several rounds “at one of the individuals” who escaped injury, but the intended targets vehicle was struck several times by gun fire

Witnesses on the scene told Lower Bucks Source that operators of two vehicles in a parking lot allegedly got into an argument which led to the shooting. A male with no description available at the  time got out of a grey vehicle as the argument continued and started to fire his gun.

Multiple sources identified Bass as the shooter on Friday describing the Trenton man as “unstable.” in communications with LBS staff. 

Borough authorities obtained a search warrant for the 19-year-old man Monday, after investigators interviewed several witnesses since the shooting last Thursday afternoon. Bass is wanted for two counts of aggravated assault, one count of reckless endangerment, one count of simple assault and one count of possessing an instrument of crime. 

Bass, police say, is known to frequent the Bristol and Falls Township areas. 

Police ask, if you see Bass, to immediately notify the Police in that area.  Anyone with information regarding Bass’s where abouts is asked to contact Det. Davis at 215-788-7813 ext 2425.

State Grant Presented to Bristol Area Fire Companies by Santarsiero, Davis

State Senator Steve Santarsiero (D-10) and state Representative Tina Davis (D-141) visited four Bristol fire companies Thursday to announce state grant awards to support public safety and the work of the fire companies.

The four awards are as follows:

“Our local volunteer fire companies, the firefighters, administrators, and support personnel, sacrifice so much to protect us all,” said Rep. Davis. “This state funding will help them obtain the equipment that they need to do their job a little more safely and effectively. Thank you to these amazing individuals for their selfless dedication to keeping our community safe.”

“Our volunteer firefighters do tremendous work, putting the community first to keep us safe,” said Sen. Santarsiero.  “I was happy to support these funds for equipment upgrades at four companies that serve Bristol Borough and Bristol Township, ensuring these brave men and women have the necessary resources to continue to serve the community.  It is critical we continue to support our fire companies and volunteer firefighters who work tirelessly on the front line to protect us.”

Street Sweeper Operations Suspended for Sections of Bristol Borough

Bristol Borough officials announced late Wednesday that due to paving operations in the west ward, street sweeping would cease for one week and restart operations the week of July 24 on those streets.

“Due to paving, the street sweeper will not be sweeping these streets on Thursday and Friday, July 18th and 19th of this week:  Mifflin St., Linden St., Locust St., Maple St. and Green St.  The regular schedule will resume next week,” said a press release from the Bristol Borough Police Department.

Fishing with a Cop Reels in September Date

The Bristol Borough Police Benevolent Association (BBPBA) announced details for this years “Fishing with a Cop” scheduled for next month at the Delaware Canal Lagoon on Jefferson Avenue.

PBA President, and “acting’ Sergeant Chuck Palmer went before Council last week to receive their support for the event, which he received enthusiastically.

September 7  from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Palmer said, is the date of the event and a rain date (Sept 8) has been added this year because of rain at last year’s event.

“We’ve gotten a lot of donations this year from locals, out of towners and businesses this year,” Palmer said.

Applications are available now at the Bristol Borough Police Department, 250 Pond Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with a deadline of August 24 to apply. 

Face painting, a D.J., and the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office Dept with its K-9 unit will be on hand.

Fishing gear for children is free and this is a 12 and under event for kids living in Bristol Borough.
