The Croydon train crossing that tractor trailer and trucks get stuck at sometimes is scheduled for inspection next week which requires lane closures on Cedar Avenue with detours to other local roadways for passage through the area.
The visual inspection of the rail bridge crossing will take place on Thursday and Friday (Nov 14 & 15 ) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Southbound Cedar Avenue will be closed and detoured between U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) and Coventry Lane.
During the closure, motorists will be directed to use U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike), Route 413 (Otter Street/New Rodgers Road), State Road, and Cedar Avenue.
Local access will be maintained up to the work zone officials said. The detours are not expected to impact the SEPTA bus station of the 128 Bus that has stops just south of the bridge survey, officials said.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because possible motorist backups and delays.
The inspection is being performed by Haines & Kibblehouse is the company under a contract with Amtrak, who have also performed much of the work on the Randall Avenue Bridge project a few miles north of the inspection area.
