It’s been said by many an expert that fire is often the symbolic form of rage expressed by man and apparently that was the case late last week at the Village Lodge for a former employee who stands accused of felony counts of aggravated assault, reckless burning, and two additional violence related charges
Glenn King, 60, was arraigned by on-call District Judge Brian M. Marriott Saturday afternoon accused of trying to set his former boss’ vehicle, his former boss and the motel on fire last Friday.
According to police, at just after 5:30 p.m., on January 17, 2025, officers were dispatched to The Village Lodge, 5361 Bristol Pike in Bristol, for someone with a blowtorch and kerosene trying to set a vehicle and victim on fire with a torch.
The victim told police an ex-employee and former maintenance person, Glenn King, arrived on scene in a white Honda CRV, covering his Lexus sedan in kerosene.
The victim said he approached King who had kerosene in one hand and a lit blowtorch in the other. He asked him what he was doing. King turned towards the victim and began spraying him with kerosene. King, according to the victim, then attempted to light him on fire by reaching towards him with a blow torch.
The victim ran away towards the office to seek safety. King pursued him allegedly yelling “I’m going to f**king kill you and burn this place down”.
King reached the office door the victim had just shut and he spread the door with kerosene.
A second Village Lodge employee stood outside the victim’s vehicle and talked to King. This caused the suspect to move away from the building and back to the victim’s Lexus. King allegedly proceeded to get another accelerant from his Honda, walked back up to the Lexus and used the blowtorch in conjunction with flammable spray to create a flamethrower and set it on fire.
Immediately after, King fled the scene in his Honda.
The witnesses subsequently positively identified King as the suspect and former coworker.
This incident was also clearly captured on video. A second Bristol Twp Police Officer familiar with King from previous calls for service at the motel positively recognized King as the suspect.
King was remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility unable to post the 10 percent of $150,00.00 bail with a court a date set currently for Jan 29 in Bristol Township.
