Bucks Republicans Call Out Sheriff on Participating at “No Kings” in Pittsburgh; Ceisler Claps Back

Credit: META

The Bucks County Republican Committee (BCRC) on Wednesday asked a simple question: Why is Bucks County Sheriff Danny Ceisler, an elected law enforcement officer, abandoning his post to participate in a partisan “No Kings” protest on the opposite side of the Commonwealth?

Ceisler posted a photo on his personal Meta page speaking at the No Kings Rally in Pittsburgh Saturday. He made no attempt to hide his participation in the “…rally organized by radical anti-government activists.”

“It is absolutely disgraceful that while our local law enforcement officers are working around the clock to keep our streets safe, Danny Ceisler is halfway across Pennsylvania taking speaking at a radical political rally,” said BCRC Chair Pat Poprik. “Bucks County families deserve a sheriff who stays in the county and does the job he was elected to do. Instead, we have an official who treats his badge like a backstage pass to partisan protests. Every hour he spends chasing headlines in Pittsburgh is an hour he isn’t spending protecting our neighborhoods. This isn’t just a lapse in judgment; it’s a total abandonment of his responsibility to the people of Bucks County.”

Bucks County residents deserve to know why a taxpayer-funded official, elected to serve the people of Bucks County, spent his weekend traveling five hours across the state to join a “resistance” movement. This blatant display of political grandstanding suggests that Sheriff Ceisler is more interested in auditioning for a role in the national progressive movement than in fulfilling the fundamental duties of his office in Doylestown. By prioritizing a cross-state publicity tour over the security of local neighborhoods, the sheriff has demonstrated a staggering disregard for the taxpayers who pay his salary and the deputies who require his local leadership, Bucks Republicans said.

The BCRC calls on the Sheriff’s Office to provide a full accounting of any taxpayer resources used for this political excursion and demands that the sheriff return his focus to the Bucks County residents he has so clearly pushed to the back burner.

Since the BCRC sought answers, Lower Bucks Source contacted the sheriff this evening for a response. Ceisler clapped back forcefully on the Bucks Republican claims, saying he “…wasn’t campaigning.”

“… this event was on a weekend and I used zero taxpayer dollars…I was already out west meeting with colleagues to discuss best practices (on my own dime, on a weekend), and accepted a last second invitation to speak.”

Finally, Ceisler, said,  and most importantly, my administration has accomplished a remarkable amount in our first hundred days. I could not be more proud of our major improvements in protecting victims of domestic violence, making huge strides in tackling our county’s mountain of outstanding criminal warrants, and expanding partnerships with our federal law enforcement partners to target violent offenders.

Ceisler decisively beat former Sheriff Fred Harran in last November’s municipal election. A critical issue in the race between the two men was Harran’s agreement as sheriff to participate in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) task force program

Shortly after Ceisler took office as sheriff, he withdrew the law enforcement entity from the 287 (G) agreement with ICE.

There are no photos of the Bucks County Sheriff at last Saturday’s protest  on the official social media accounts for the office .
