Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) is urging immediate federal action to address the mounting concerns surrounding unexplained drone activity in the Philadelphia region and neighboring New Jersey.
“The growing reports of unexplained drone activity in the Philadelphia region and our neighboring state of New Jersey demand immediate and decisive federal action, said Fitzpatrick as Chairman of the National Intelligence Enterprise Subcommittee on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), I am treating this matter with the urgency it requires and taking proactive steps to safeguard our public safety and national security.”
The congressman said he requested a classified briefing so he can get a comprehensive understanding of the myriad reported sightings. Since he is requesting the information to be shared with him, he could not in turn share it publicly, doing little for constituents concerned, informationally speaking.
There are no criminal related activity or direct threat(s) reported on the ground to authorities or documented by officials in New Jersey or in the Philadelphia regions, as of Thursday morning. A number of published reports said the FBI opened up a case file on Monday.
Fitzpatrick acknowledged as much in his Wednesday statement saying, “while initial briefings indicate no immediate threat to public safety, I take seriously the legitimate concerns of my constituents, our neighbors in New Jersey, and the broader American public.”
“If you observe any unidentified drone activity or have information related to these sightings, we ask you please report it to the FBI by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submitting photos or details online at tips.fbi.gov, ” Fitzpatrick asked.
